Estate Planning for Digital Assets

Date: Tuesday, September 26, 2017
Time: 5:30pm - 8:00pm
Location: Santa Ana Country Club | 20382 Newport Boulevard | Santa Ana 92707
Speaker: Philip M. Savage IV

Considering how much information we keep on computers and on the internet, estate planning just isn’t complete anymore without including digital assets and social media accounts.

What will happen to these assets when we become disabled or die? Would a family member or administrator know where to find important documents? It wasn’t that long ago that we had only paper records; we could simply point to a file cabinet or drawer and tell someone “everything is in there when the time comes.” But if you scan documents or receive financial statements electronically, someone else may not even know these exist. Mr. Savage will explain the who’s, the what’s and the why’s of digital assets, and how to prepare an adviser in the necessary steps to ensure their client is set with their digital asset plan.

Note: This program qualifies for 1-hour of Attorney, CPA, Professional Fiduciary and Trust Officer continuing education credit.  This presentation is approved 1-hour CE approval with the California Department of Insurance (Life Insurance licensed), Course Number: 360351.  It is also approved for 1-hour CE with the CFP Board of Standards, Program ID: 242375.
